Himalaya expeditions have been added to the Everest list (scroll down) and some 20 expeditions are listed there already, with Annapurna and Kang expecting most of the action. The Everest/Himalaya list now totals close to 60 spring/fall expeditions! Annapurna Ed and Veikka are ready to give Annapurna another shot this spring, Ed to become the first American to join the small number of climbers who have stood atop the summits of all 14 8,000 meter peaks in the world, and climbed them without oxygen. Piotr Pustelnik is ready for a second attempt on the Bonnington Route on the South Face, Silvio “Gnaro” Mondinelli is on his second Anna attempt, through the north side this time. Iñaki Ochoa, Nives Meroi, Romano Benet, and Luca Vuerich will attempt Annapurna’s north side after Dhaulagiri, in a spring double-header. They are sharing climbing permit and route with Ed Viesturs. They will be working together on the mountain if they reach BC on time - Viesturs and team will be airlifted to BC from Cho Oyu on May 1st. Inaki is also going to Shisha for an off season solo attempt. Kangchenjunga Ivan Vallejo will add the 11th, 8000er in his quest for the great 14 if he summits Kang - perhaps the most difficult of all the 14, 8000ers. (Annapurna instead, is the statistically deadliest.) Kangchenjunga is the only 8000er left for Alan Hinkes to complete the 14, 8000ers. If he summits he could be a controversial member of the prestigious ‘club’ of the 14, 8000ers climbers. Check out all the action on the newly released expeditions list. Image ExWeb files.
