Fixing ropes to summit

On the South Side, the expeditionsí Sirdars met yesterday to discuss fixing ropes above the South Col, 7900m, to the summit. Scott Woolums, the expedition leader for Adventures International reports that from this meeting over 8 sherpas from 7 different teams will be breaking trail and fixing ropes to the Balcony or the South Summit. One of the sherpas, Minga Chirri, from Scottís team will be part of this crew. The planned date for this is Saturday, the 18th, preceding many teamsí planned summit dates of the 19th,20th, and 21st. The weather forecasts have been showing this time to be a potential summit window.

Preparations for summit bids are happening higher up on the mountain as well, sherpas have been making repairs to wind damaged tents and stashing gear and oxygen for the summit attempts.

Adventures International is a small, personal, US outfit led by Scott Woolums who guided and summited Everest in 2002.
