Simone Moro, who had to return to Kathmandu after getting sick, is ready to get back on it! Tomorrow he’ll secure his new Chinese visa, and the day after he’ll be on the road to Nylam, where the trek to Shisha Pangma’s Base Camp starts.

Simone is happy to report, “My sickness is going better and better and the virus disappeared using antibiotics. I plan to arrive to base camp in two days from Kathmandu.”

The two English folks who’ve been climbing on Shisha Pangma, Parkin and Sanders, were thwarted by high winds an will be returning home. They’ve been talking to some of Simone’s teammates who have set Advanced Base Camp, offering up some *beta on the route before they head up.

The expedition will climb Shisha Pangma’s South Face without the use of Sherpa support or supplementary oxygen. Originally, Krzysztof Wielicki was planning to be a part of the expedition, but bowed out recently due to family matters.

On the expedition is Italian climber Simone Moro, Pierre Bergeron and Yvon Latreille, both from Quebec, Canada, and Polish climbers Piotr Morawski, Jacek Jawien and Darek Zaluski are also on the expedition. Jas Szulc (POL) will accompany the team the base camp manager.
