Phoning home from Ama Dablam

Adventure Consultants is still experiencing difficulties transmitting text and images, but Luis sends all the latest in today's audio dispatch:
Audio - The team calling in a dispatch
Hello, everybody. It’s October 23rd. This is Adventure Consultants, Ama Dablam 2003. My name is Luis Benitez.
What a day in the sun here at Base Camp. Today we had our Puja Ceremony where a monk from Pangboche came up to Base Camp to bless us, our equipment and our Sherpas. It was quite a celebration.
After that it was back to business, fixing harnesses, ice axes and readying loads for the yaks to take to ABC tomorrow. Looks like we may get a bit of nasty weather tonight, but all is set for tomorrow’s carry. We will have one final rest day here before starting to work higher up the mountain.
Why so much time here? Well as Ab put it, “When you sleep at the height of Mont Blanc, it takes time to adjust.”
So, hopefully the solar flares will die down soon and we’ll be able to send photos and text dispatches soon. Until then, this is Luis reporting from Ama Dablam wishing everyone back home a pleasant afternoon.
Adventure Consultants is headed to Southwest Ridge of Ama Dablam this fall. Three-time Everest summiteer, Luis Benitez is leading the month-long expedition to the 6,828m "Jewel of the Khumbu." Adventure Consultants is an IGO 8000 member and has a strong reputation among climbers for its very high standards, experienced guides and sherpas.
