Can't get enough of adventure news? Try Travelexplorations.com! The Norwegian based website has interesting bits and pieces from the world of mountaineering and exploration including mysteries!

One such are the famous lights in Hessdalen. A small valley in the central of Norway, between the end of 1981 through 1984, Hessdalen residents were alarmed when strange, unexplained lights appeared at locations throughout the Valley. There were hundreds of sightings and about 20 reports weekly at the peak of activity.

A research group registered 53 light observations between January 21 and February 26, 1984. There is no explanation to the mystery lights which are still occuring in the valley, although decreased to about 20 sightings a year.

Image of the Hessdalen lights shot by Kurt Anderssen in 1982. The picture was taken close to the main road in Hessdalen, towards a flashing light above the mountain Finnsåhøgda. Kurt used a camera standing on a tripod, equipped with a 2000 mm lens, which he had borrowed from Arne P.Thomassen. Kurt managed to take a picture just when the light got in the view of the camera.
