Northern Irish turned 250 meters from Everest summit
08:03 a.m. EDT May 23, 2003
The team has been out of communication for several days, today a message finally came through. Expedition leader Richard Dougan called in via Sat phone: "we've all safely returned to high camp after getting very close to the summit. The most important thing is that we're healthy and that I'm happy to say that all our fingers are in place."

Richard also took the opportunity to congratulate their fellow climbers from Pat Falvey's Irish Expedition, Michael Murphy and Gerard McDonnell who made the summit yesterday from the South side.

Right now the team is on the way down to Advanced Base Camp to get ready for a second summit attempt when the weather breaks.
