Marching up to Annapurna
17:45 p.m. EST Apr 7, 2004
Fresh news from Annapurna and Piotr Pustelnik has just arrived. The weather is tempermental and the scenery is beginning to look more alpine than forest.

Day 9 (7th of April)

"Today members of the mBank Era Annapurna Expedition reached the Machhapuchre Base Camp (3700 m). The weather is changeable, with prevailing rain and snow, but temporally there are moments of good visibility. The scenery is changing too, forests are gradually turning to scree areas on glacier’s moraine. Probably tomorrow afternoon, the expedition will reach the Annapurna Base Camp (4200 m). The spirit of the team is very good."

Piotr Pustelnik is Annapurna bound this spring and might also be going for Broad peak. After his ascent of Manaslu last spring, Annapurna and Broad are the only two he has left in his quest to complete all 14 8000m peaks.

The team is going to climb Annapurna South Face via the classic Bonnington route. "We want to establish ABC near the wall and three camps up above. We need to put fix ropes in the most dangerous places on the wall."

Expedition leader: Piotr Pustelnik, Poland
Expedition members:
Poland: Dariusz Załuski, Paweł Józefowicz.
Slovakia: Vlado Strba, Peter Hamor, Martin Gablik, Peter Frankovic.
Russia: Sergey Bogomolov. Slovenia: Barbara Drnovsek, Aljosa Markac.
