Live from Ama Dablam Camp 2: "Up, up, and awaaay"
image story

Nov 1, 2004 14: 10 EST
Friday Adventure Consultants reached Camp 1 on their summit push, in hopes for a summit day around November 3. They reported lots of traffic heading up and down the hill with stories of rockfall, frostbite, and dubious fixed lines..."we will have to wait and see for ourselves," they wrote and today they reached camp 2 and 3. In a Halloween special entry yesterday, the crew reported some trick and treats Himalayan style:

"We know it is an American holiday, so we will try to do some trick or treating up here with the other teams. This year has been one of more tricks than treats. Rumors of people using other team's food, fuel, tents, even sleeping bags are keeping us wary of our equipment stored up high. Some people showed up with pretty much nothing, relying on others generosity to survive up high."

Today the tricks are over and it's a full blown summit push!

"Welcome one and all to the wildest show on earth, alpine climbing, Himalayas style! The Adventure Consultants team is in full groove mode now, and the summit pushes are underway!

Team one led by Paul, and filmed by Hamish, consisting of Jo, Rob, and Andy have just reached C3 and are preparing for their summit push tomorrow! Team two led by Luis and Mark and also being filmed by Mark consisting of Joe, Kate and Todd have just arrived at C2 and are busy settling in, moving to C3 tomorrow to meet team 1 on the way down from hopefully a successful summit bid!

So stay tuned and keep your fingers and toes crossed that the weather, our health, and our supply of chocolate holds out!

Till then,
Luis and the merry ramblers."
