Lhotse summit push in less than 1 hour
21:32 p.m. EDT May 18, 2003
Lorenzo Gariano, Joyhn Rust, and three sherpas, all from the Adventures International team are in Lhotse Camp IV and will be leaving for Lhotse's summit in less than an hour.

Lorenzo sent through an audio dispatch right from Camp IV, only an hour ago. They are feeling well and the oxygen has been a great help.

So far this season Lhotse has been summited by the Nepali/Indian Army team, Koreans, and Japanese.

Adventures International is a small, personal, US outfit led by Scott Woolums who guided and summited Everest in 2002

Lhotse is the world’s 4th highest mountain, but often gets overshadowed by Everest because they are so close. It’s just a hair over 100m shorter than K2, and shares the same route as Everest until 7500m. Lhotse has two lower subsidiary peaks, Lhotse Shar and Lhotse Middle. The later was the highest unclimbed subsidiary peak until 2001 when a team of Russians became the first to summit.
