Icewall scaled on Kangchenjunga
17:55 p.m. EDT Apr 27, 2003
Ralf Dujmovits plan on leaving today for a Camp 3 push up Kangchenjunga, 8595m.

On their last trip up they fixed ropes to Camp II and then 600m up a steep, icy face to 6300m. The team has encountered not only steep and icy terrain, but thigh deep snow above Camp I.

If the weather permits, the crew will spend the next 5-7 days or so fixing the route up to Camp III.

It's been pretty lonely for the team, only one trekker has visited them in base camp so far.

Expedition members: Ralf Dujmovits, Hirotaka Takeuchi, Gerlinde Kaltbrunner, Michi Waerthl, David Goetter, and Veikka Gustaffson.
