ExWeb Everest Debrief: Adventure Consultants
Jul 6, 2004 13: 56 EST
The good guys arrived last this season (for the South Side) - and once again Adventure Consultants team carried Rob's torch to the summit of Mount Everest in this season's finale on the Everest South Side.
At 10.20 Australian Anthony Donald Baldry, Irish woman Samantha M. O’Carroll, Phu Tashi Sherpa, and Ang Dorje Sherpa summited. This was Phu Tashi’s 5th summit and Ang Dorje’s 10th!
They were followed shortly thereafter by John Kenneth Rost from the US and Lhakpa Tharke Sherpa at 10.30.
Last from the team was AC guide Luis Benitez from the US, Pasang Tenzing Sherpa, and Nuru Gyalzen Sherpa. Both Luis and Pasang made their 4th summit this year. Mike Roberts, another AC guide turned around below the Hillary Step to help assist Ursula Tokorska and Ed Bradley down.
”It was a tough call to make but the weather has started to change and they have made the decision to descend, taking the safer option, ” wrote Guy at the time.
This team waited until they knew it was the right time before making their attempt. It paid off for them as they had the route to themselves.
