Everest film screening in Colorado Springs
11:36 a.m. EDT Oct 24, 2003
Outside television’s ”Farther than the Eye can See,” which is fresh off a Grand Jury prize at the Taos Film Festival is going to be screened tomorrow, October 25, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The film is about Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind person to climb mountain Everest.

Erik, along with several members of his Everest team will be attending both screenings in Armstrong Hall at Colorado College. After the Springs, the film will be screened at the prestigious Banff Mountain Film festival in the Canadian province of Alberta. It was just recently accepted as a finalist.

This expedition was the first time a high-definition camera was brought up to the summit of Mount Everest. Michael Brown from Serac Adventure Films, who brought that camera up there will also be in attendance for tomorrow screenings.

Erik Weihenmayer has since completed the seven highest summits of the seven continents, which include Mt. Vinson in Antarctica as well as Denali, up in Alaska. He was the first blind man to accomplish all 7. In addition, Erik has since started Adventure Racing and recently finished the ‘Primal Quest’ challenge along with one of his Everest teammates, Jeff Evans.
