Everest climbers injured in Maoist blast

Two Russian climbers were injured after their van hit a land mine on route from Kathmandu to the boarder town of Nyamare Saturday. The Russians were part of a team heading to the Tibetian side of Everest for the start of the spring season.
The Russians were airlifted to hospital in Kathmandu and are reported safe. One of the climbers is released from the hospital, while the other is undergoing treatement for unspecified wounds.
The explosion occurred near Chehere village on the Arniko highway, about 100 miles west of Katmandu. The bus was defying an 11-day general strike called by Maoist rebels.
This is the first time climbers are injured in the Maoist conflict.
