May 27, 2004 01: 31 EST
The good guys arrived last - and once again Adventure Consultants team carried Rob's torch to the summit of Mount Everest in this season's finale on the Everest South Side:
"At 10.15am (local): "Loud cheering on the radio signals the arrival of Ang Dorje (his 10th summit!), Anthony Baldry, Samantha O'Carroll and Phu Tashi on the summit of Mount Everest. John Rost is moments away from reaching the top also. Luis and the others are further behind. Fantastic news and congratulations AC team!
Guy Cotter, from Everest base camp"
At 9.40am Nepal Time, the positions of the team were; Ang Dorje, Anthony Baldry and Samantha O'Carroll on the Hillary Step, John Rost was just behind. Ed Bradley and Urszula Tokarska got to the South Summit and were leaving to make their way up to the summit.
It has been a truly amazing season on Mount Everest this year. The success rate has been remarkable as Everest showed it's most beautiful side. Triumph after triumph - a pure joy. Yet some had to turn back, and some the mountain kept for ever. It always does. To their memory, and to tonight's success we close the south side season with the same video that marked its beginning. Ladies and Gentlemen - the summit of Mount Everest!
