It’s not ALL work and no play for the Everest Snowboard Expedition. Though Stephen Koch, Jimmy Chin and Eric Henderson are hard at work acclimatizing for their snowboard attempt down Mount Everest’s Hornbein Couloir, they’ve also found the time to acquaint the expedition’s Sherpa team to a bit of American culture and cuisine.

Among the regular fare: Healthy portions of “Sex and the City” (courtesy of Kim Catrall and Conan O'Brien) and the ongoing battle of “Everest Iron Chef,” as Lakpa and Eric try to outdo each other’s in the culinary department. No word on who is winning...

The team awoke Saturday to half a foot of heavy monsoon snow, but found the afternoon clear enough to hike up to 20,000 feet. The next day, the group headed out for a day of ice climbing and bouldering just below ABC.

Today, Stephen notes, "It is alternately raining and snowing as I write. On the next clear morning we plan to climb Changzheng Peak, 6977 meters... We plan on bringing our ski and snowboard gear for some turns along the ridge and down the face but must be careful not to go too far down the glacier as it ends in a hanging serac."

Thankfully, hours of "Sex and the City" tapes help fill the time during the wait.

Check Stephen’s dispatches for all the details and more spectacular photos.

Stephen Koch aims to snowboard the Seven Summits. With only one left to go – Everest – he chose the hard way; down one of the world’s most famous direct lines, the Hornbein Couloir. Jimmy Chin plans to climb to the top with Stephen and then ski down. Stephen, Jimmy and Eric are friends from Wyoming. The expedition uses Contact 2.0 software to provide Web updates.
