Everest North: Duncan at 7900m - Summit attempt tomorrow!
May 29, 2005 07: 42 EST
4pm - Late afternoon Mt Everest time - early evening in Australia. 7:00 am in New York.
Duncan Chessell reported that his team arrived a couple of hours ago at their camp 2. In the background the stoves were hissing as they melted snow for drinking water and food.
The team members were packing their gear, paring down unecessary weight to give them every opportunity for a safe ascent and descent. They will spend the night at 7900m and anticipate heading off in the early hours of the morning in their attempt to climb to the summit, almost 1000m above.
Duncan said the winds were light and conditions appeared to be favorable for their summit attempt tomorrow morning.
