Elephant heroes in tsunami disaster

Swedish media reports that Thai elephants rescued several tourists before the tsunami hit. The elephants are used for tourist rides.
At the morning of the tidal wave, the animals became restless, "they sounded as if they were weeping" said the care takers who managed to calm the animals at first.
But just before the wave hit, the elephants took off running up to the hills. Tourists still straddling their backs followed involuntarily. Other elephants were tied up but took after their running mates, breaking free from their chains. On their way up, the animals picked up people with their trunks; placing them on their backs and saving their lives.
