Each year, NAATA presents a phenomenal selection of Asian American films to both PBS and the public in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May. This year's highlights include:
DAUGHTERS OF EVEREST by Sapana Sakya, 60 mins. “I want to scale Everest because my father’s foreign friends know my country better than I do,” proclaims Dolma Sherpa. She is one of the five women to participate in the first-ever expedition of Sherpa women to climb Mount Everest in 2000. Never before has a Sherpa woman survived the climb. Full of suspense and breathtaking high altitude footage, the film provides the dramatic and close up portrait of this historic expedition.
