Cyber climbers for Ama Dablam: Good night from Nepal|
Oct 24, 2004 21: 46 EST
Summitting Everest this spring, and just over from Elbrus (5642m) in the old USSR, Adventure Consultants are going for Ama Dablam next and Luis is a busy guy. The expedition leader and four-time Everest summiteer uses Contact as usual, and provides some cool live images with a new fish eye lens. The gang reached Ama Dablam BC and are properly blessed:
"Hello again from a cloudy and cold base camp. Today we had our puja ceremony. A Lama (pictured) came up to bless us and to ask the gods for a safe passage on our climb. A nice cultural experience enjoyed by all our team. Also this morning, the Island Peak team left basecamp and headed off on their own expedition.
This afternoon was spent practising climbing the fixed ropes and packing our mountain food for our yaks to do a carry to Advanced Base Camp (ABC) tomorrow.
Since it was such a busy day, we plan on resting here again tomorrow, also allowing us to better acclimatise.
Good night from Nepal,
Mark & the team..."
