Everest Climbers finally evacuated
image story

May 8, 2005 19: 29 EST
BaseCampMD reported from Everest Saturday:

"After an anxious wait of three days, our avalanche-injured climbers finally got evacuated today.
The big Russian helicopter just fit on our helipad, and had to make two trips up to carry everyone down. Glad to say that all our patients were doing much better already and can now have further tests and care in Kathmandu."

Associated Press Writer Binaj Gurubacharya interviewed one of the avalanched climbers, Pierre Bourdeau, in Kathmandu today. Climbers seem to be OK, except for a Sherpa who might have broken his back. Find the report in the links section.
