Carlos Pauner disappeared on Kangchenjunga
13:30 p.m. EDT May 21, 2003
Alarming news has reached us that Carlos Pauner has gone missing on Kangchenjunga, 8586m. He along with Silvio Mondinelli, Mario Merelli, and Christian Kuntner summited yesterday May 20th.

Spain’s largest news agency, the EFE, and the Montañeros de Aragón (Aragonese Mountaineering Club) just reported that Carlos disappeared on the descent from the summit and never arrived at Camp III, 7600m. His teammates have since descended to base camp, leaving food in Camp III, should he arrive. Kangchenjunga is the world’s 3rd tallest mountain and is considered more difficult than Everest.

Carlos is an experienced mountaineer who has summited 4, 8000m peaks – K2, Makalu, Broad Peak, and just yesterday, Kangchenjunga.
