Press release:
“Ottawa, Friday, April 29th, 2005: Earlier this morning, Canadian Dr. Sean Egan who was leading an expedition on Mount Everest, collapsed and died on his way down the mountain. It was Dr Egan’s third trip to the mountain, and it was to be his first summit attempt.”
“Dr Egan had been suffering from a respiratory infection, since arriving at Base Camp on Mount Everest and had decided to head down the mountain to a lower altitude to aid his recovery and to seek further medical advice. He was in Dughla, on his way to Pheriche, when it is believed he suffered a cardiac arrest, just before noon on Friday April 29th.”
“Dr Egan was a professor of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa. His body is being transported to Kathmandu before being brought back to Canada. More details will be made available as they become known.”
