Brothers bound for Everest
10:50 a.m. EST Nov 5, 2003
On March 29th 2004, Tom and Ben Clowes will set out to climb Mount Everest hoping to become the first British brothers to reach the summit. They’ll be making the attempt from the northern side.

The two honed their climbing instincts from an early age, spending much of their time in treetops as children, and then climbing extensively in the Alps and Scotland. Both have made previous trips to the Himalayas. Tom has scaled Ama Dablam and Ben summited Cho Oyu via its North West Face in 2001.

To fulfill their lifelong dream of Everest, Tom and Ben have joined the same permit as Texas climber Kevin Donovan. All will be going with Adventure Peaks led by Dave Pritt.

Now, it’s training all the way until they leave in March. Weekdays are spent alternating swimming, circuit training and cross training. Weekends are spent climbing.

Tom and Ben Clowes will join the Adventure Peaks (UK) expedition under the leadership of Dave Pritt to climb the north route of Everest next spring. Adventure Peaks was also on Everest in spring 2003
