Adventure Consultants says good-bye to Everest for now
13:15 p.m. EDT May 31, 2003
The AC team packed up all their loads and climbers on the team caught a lift to Kathmandu a couple of days ago via helicopter.

The base camp manager Ellen, expedition leader Bill, and the Sherpas trekked out and planned to fly from Syangboche with all the cargo on the 29th.

The team made a tough decision this year and turned around at the South Summit. They felt it was too risky with the high winds and number of climbers ahead of them on the route.

Expedition leader Bill Crouse wrote before leaving base camp, "It's been a great expedition, but now time to leave our home of ice and rock 'till next year. We say our final good-byes to Everest and head down the trail."

Adventure Consultants is Rob Hall's old outfit, since 1996 managed by Guy Cotter who holds very high standards, and has very experienced guides and sherpas. This year's expedition leader, Bill Crouse, has summited twice and Ang Dorje, the head sherpa, has scaled Everest 8 times. AC has a high reputation among climbers. (IGO 8000 member)
