Annapurna: Miss Oh calls Annapurna summit bid off - expeditions over

(MountEverest.net/Madrid) “In spite of all efforts, Oh Eun-Sun was finally forced back from C3 on Annapurna due to high winds,” ExWeb’s Korea correspondent Kyu Dam Lee just reported. “She is back in BC at 4,200m, packing up to leave.”
Miss Oh had launched a second summit bid on Anna through the weekend. She postponed the final push on Sunday though, as wind conditions were tougher than expected - she waited until today in order to make the final decision. According to sponsor Black Yak, wind on the mountain’s upper sections reached 100 km/h today.
Other Korean climbers on the mountain also turned back from C3, according to local media.
Trying again in spring 2010
“Safety is never granted on the mountains,” Miss Oh reportedly stated. “There will be another chance for me, as long as I am wise enough to adapt to nature, and keep my passion for mountains. As Chris Bonington said, a challenge has no meaning without danger and failures.”
Oh Eun-Sun plans to return to Annapurna, her latest 8000+ meters summit, in spring 2010.
