(MountEverest.net/story edited 11.06 pm) Swiss mountain guide Uwe Gianni Goltz died May 21 shortly before Camp IV (7.900), due to physical exhaustion after an attempt to summit Everest without oxygen. The fatality has been confirmed by the Swiss climbing association, according to Agence France-Presse.
The climber had already scaled five 8000ers and attempted two more. Goltz was born in Avegno, Switzerland, on 14.06.1963, and besides conquests on Alpamayo, Ama Dablam and Pumori, has summited:

2003 Cho Oyu
2004 Shishapangma
2005 Broad Peak Fore summit
2007 Dhaulagiri
He also attempted Nanga Parbat in 2006.
